Time and Money

Hungarian Coin Bracelet
Is it just me, or has time sped up like a runaway train lately?  One minute it's the New Year and I'm making all sorts of crazy resolutions about how I'm going to finally loose these last 12 pounds, cook at home more, be more patient with my family, save more money, learn more at work, expand my jewelry skills, and yes ... even blog more frequently!  The next, it's May already -- we're nearly half way through the year!

Have I made progress?  Have I met any of my goals?  Lol - it just occurred to me that none of those things have a real endpoint.  They are on-going, life-long goals that have to be kept up and pursued over time.  So, what's my hurry?  Life's the journey anyway.

Time.  To me it's more fleeting and valuable than money.  Really.  You can't capture and freeze it.  You can try to "save" time, but not store it.  You can only spend it.  And try to spend more of it in areas of life that matter to you most.  With the people that matter to you the most.  And like money, there seems to never be enough of it.

But money . . . money can be saved (or so I am told!).  Money can even buy you time, apparently.  And, I have found, punching holes in money, hammering it, linking it together, and dripping strands of gemstones from it, antiquing and polishing it can also buy you a bit of peace and joy.  And when you're done, you can wear it!

Is there a moral to this rambling stream-of-conciousness?  Maybe.  I guess I would say, in your pursuit of happiness and all the crazy goals and tasks you set for yourself along the way, don't neglect yourself.  Take the time to enjoy the journey.  Stop and savor the beauty around you.  Make something creative.  Plant something beautiful.  Heck -- go wild and buy yourself something lovely once in a while (Lol!).  There will never be enough time and money for everything, and really . . . neither time nor money is the ultimate point, right?

Especially this bit "in your pursuit of happiness and all the crazy goals and tasks you set for yourself along the way, don't neglect yourself."

I have not made much jewellery for a very long time and am slowly losing sight of who I am! Must get that balance back in my life and make more! Thank you for sharing your very wise words :-)
